About
Tape is a mobile-native execution engine. You describe a strategy, set the limits it must trade inside, and the engine does the watching. It is not a brokerage, it does not hold your money, and it does not tell you what to buy.
Join the waitlistAn institution running a strategy has infrastructure around it: something watching the market continuously, something staging orders against explicit rules, something closing positions when a limit is hit, and a record afterwards that reconciles. An individual trader with a phone has had almost none of that. Retail platforms are built to help you place an order. Very few are built to help you run a strategy.
Tape is an attempt at the second thing. You configure a strategy — from a library of over 120, or by describing one in plain English — and set the envelope it must stay inside: risk per trade, take profit, stop loss, universe, trading hours. The engine then scans, stages orders against those rules, exits on the conditions you set, and writes everything to one journal.
Strategies can run with no AI at all, evaluating only the conditions you configured. They can also run AI-assisted, where a model reads the market context and returns a directional view with a written rationale. Either way the limits are yours, enforced in code, and checked after the model answers rather than before.
Kill switches are checked inside the execution engine, not layered on as a setting. Every path that could place an order has to pass them.
Realised profit and loss is computed from the price actually achieved on the fill. Every live account is reconciled line by line, and the reconciliation is re-run rather than assumed.
Backtests apply the same decide-to-fill lag and liquidity-tiered slippage as the live path, and show gross and net separately. An idealised backtest is worse than none.
Claims on this site trace back to a QA run against the live service. Where something has not been measured, we say so instead of rounding it up.
Tape is not a broker-dealer, not an investment adviser, and not registered with the SEC or FINRA in any capacity. It does not hold customer funds, take custody of assets, recommend securities, or provide personalised investment advice. It does not offer retirement accounts, cash management, deposits, transfers, or any managed-portfolio service.
Practice trading is a simulation Tape runs internally — orders are priced against real market data but never reach a venue and never involve real money. For live trading, orders route to your own SEC- and FINRA-regulated brokerage, and your funds stay in your own account in your own name.
Trading involves risk of loss. Tape does not guarantee, project or protect any outcome, and publishes no trading returns.
Who’s building this
Tape started from a straightforward observation: the tooling that lets an institution run a strategy continuously — scanning, staging, exiting, and keeping an auditable record of all of it — has never really existed for an individual trader on a phone. Retail platforms optimise for placing an order. Almost none of them optimise for running a strategy.
So the priorities have been the unglamorous ones: an execution path you can stop, a ledger that reconciles, backtests that model the costs a real fill incurs, and a spend ceiling that fails closed. Those are the things that are painful to retrofit, and they are where most of the work has gone.
“AI is being used against people — taking jobs, wages, and peace of mind. Tape does the opposite. We put AI on your side, working on your terms. We fight for the users. Always will.”
Brokers supported
Tape is software, not a broker. It never holds your money. Live orders are placed through a brokerage account held in your own name, at your own regulated brokerage.
Via SnapTrade
SnapTrade connects 20+ US brokerages. Which ones are available to you is set by SnapTrade and by each brokerage, not by Tape.
